Position Summary:

The Rollins College Department of Theatre & Dance invites applications for The Winnie Warden Endowed Chair faculty position, beginning fall term 2025. Our preference is to hire a Full Professor with extensive experience teaching in a college or university BA theatre program. A Ph.D. in Theatre or a related field is required, with strong preference for specialization in non-Western theatre traditions and a proven record of directing academic as well as professional theatrical productions. Additional teaching assignments will include courses such as theatre history, script analysis, global theatre, and other courses in alignment with the candidate’s areas of specialty. The Winnie Warden Endowed Chair is a leadership chair which involves a strong service commitment to the Theatre program and College. The position includes a 3/2 teaching load as well as a $5000 annual stipend, and a $3500 professional development fund. All Rollins faculty are also expected to teach 1-2 courses in our general education program each academic year.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, directing, and collaborating with colleagues. Our goal is to attract a faculty member of the highest caliber who will contribute to the reputation and stature of the Annie Russell Theatre as well as the Department and College. Responsibilities include regularly directing productions for our public-facing season in the historic Annie Russell Theatre and participating fully in department and college life.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  • Ph.D. in Theatre, Performance Studies, or a related field
  • Extensive experience teaching undergraduates in a BA theatre program in a liberal arts setting
  • Extensive experience directing undergraduate productions
  • Specialization in non-Western theatre traditions and experience/ability to teach courses such as Global Theatre, Theatre History, and Script Analysis
  • Preference for those who hold the rank of full professor at their current university
