Job Summary:

The Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology has an opening for a full-time Professor in the Breast Oncology Program.

The goal of this position is to recruit a collaborative individual in the field of cancer biology and therapeutic development to our breast cancer research team. The ideal candidate will have strong research skills in breast oncology and have an interest in basic and/or translational research in breast cancer. The final candidate will be expected to have active engagement with the breast cancer research program, and collaborations with translational, clinical, and population health research colleagues. Duties and responsibilities will include basic/translational research, plus an expectation to pursue and encourage in their colleagues’ original research, as well as collaborating with other cancer center members. Highly motivated applicants with a track record of NIH funding are encouraged to apply.

A highly competitive lab start-up package may be offered and will be discussed during the recruitment process. Candidates with expertise and research interest in mammary gland biology, basic mechanism for breast cancer prevention, immuno-oncology, novel targeted therapies or therapy resistance will be given high priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will conduct highly impactful, rigorous, and innovative basic/translational laboratory research, and maintain and obtain new funding from the National Cancer Institute and/or other funding bodies (e.g., Department of Defense, American Cancer Society, AACR, ASCO, SITC, etc).
  • The candidate will actively engage with breast cancer researchers and collaborate with other basic, translational, clinical and population science colleagues.
  • The candidate will provide training and supervision for undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty in the Division of Medical Oncology/Department of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology, and the Cancer Center.
  • Maintain assessable, fully transparent records of experimental design, execution, results and interpretations, as well as be responsible for all rules of conduct related to ethical research.
  • Participate in Divisional/Cancer Center “citizenship” activities such as the Scientific Review Committee or the Animal Care and Use Committee. It is expected that you will participate in at least one committee yearly.
  • Participate in the Divisional “Research in Progress” meeting series where junior faculty present initial laboratory findings and grant proposals for feedback from senior faculty.
  • Participate in the Cancer Center Lecture Series, Departmental/Divisional Lecture Series, and seminars for the breast program.
  • The candidate may also be eligible for additional leadership roles in the cancer center and would be required to fulfill the job description of any accepted designated leadership rolls; to be discussed during the recruitment process for determination of expertise and interest.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent in cancer biology, Immunology, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current NIH and/or DoD grant funding.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$300,000-350,000
