DESCRIPTON

The instructor will be the primary personnel for the immersive learning experience, which entails delivering 18-24 hours of weekly mechatronics technician training to program participants. This includes tasks such as lesson planning, preparing instructional materials, and evaluating participant performance. The instructor will collaborate with the Project Team to ensure that the training content remains responsive to industry needs. This may involve staying updated on industry trends, revising course materials, and incorporating new technologies or practices into the curriculum. They will coordinate and supervise all experiential learning activities, ensuring they align with the Project’s objectives and offer a dynamic experience. The instructor will also will play a pivotal role in the MILE project’s recruitment efforts, ensuring a diverse and engaging group of participants. The instructor will regularly update the Project Team on the status of the participant experience, ensuring that training activities align with career exploration and mentoring initiatives, and meeting expected deliverables when reporting to the external evaluator.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Prepares lesson plans for classroom and laboratory instruction for specified courses.

* Organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.

* Demonstrate current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas and courses to be taught, including labs.

* Accurately and timely, submit required reports to the students and college.

* Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback on lectures and labs.

* Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve educational objectives.

* Strong oral communication skills, professional attitude, desire to help students succeed in their career goals.

* Ability to work well with GPTC students, people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.

* Evaluates students’ progress in attaining their respective goals and objectives.

* Communicates students’ progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.

* Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports to department and college.

* Complies and submits reports in a timely manner, meeting all GPTC deadlines.

* Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Advanced Manufacturing training area.

* Maintains workforce and technical knowledge of program including, Industry Certifications.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLA, AND ABILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Teaching and working experience of three years must include Industrial Mechanics, Fluid Power Systems, and other Mechatronics based curriculum (PLCs). In addition to teaching Mechatronics curricula, the part-time instructor should also have experience training and overseeing students in each required Mechatronics Technology Laboratory. In addition, the applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent along with certificate or diploma in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field. The candidate should also possess excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, with postsecondary teaching experience. Industry or teaching experience in Introduction to Mechatronics, Industrial Mechanics, Fluid Power Systems, Industrial Motor Controls, Basic Industrial PLC’s, Industrial Instrumentation, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, and other Mechatronics Technology based courses. In addition to technical lectures, the part-time instructor should have experience in Mechanical Hands-on Training Equipment, Hydraulic Instructional Paraphernalia, Pneumatic Training Apparatus, Practical Mechanical Teaching Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) System Devices (Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC Systems). Familiarity with training systems such as Festo and Amatrol Virtual Training Software would be a plus for each candidate. The salary range for this position is from is determined based on education, experience, and other qualifications.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
