Job Summary

The Section of Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan is seeking a Clinical Instructor for a microsurgery/breast reconstruction training position.

This is a one-year, high volume clinical instructor position with a focus on advanced training in microsurgical breast reconstruction at the University of Michigan. Our microsurgeons perform over 150 microsurgical breast reconstruction procedures each academic year.

Responsibilities*

The Clinical Instructor will be involved in the preoperative evaluation, operative and postoperative management of microsurgical patients. They will also be involved in subsequent revisional breast reconstruction procedures required to achieve a completed reconstruction. Microsurgical cases will include, DIEP, SIEA, muscle sparing TRAM, PAP, TUG flaps and SGAP flaps. Pedicle flap and implant based forms of reconstruction will also be a component of the training experience. The position is a training position, with an expectation that the individual will do some of their own, billable cases.

The Clinical Instructor will have the opportunity to teach residents and medical students, participate in section educational conferences and engage in research.
Required Qualifications*

Applicants must have completed training in an ACGME approved plastic surgery training program and be board certified or in the process of certification. Applicants must also be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Michigan.
