Position Summary:
The Department of Communication & Film at the University of Memphis seeks to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in Rhetoric/Media at its Memphis campus beginning August 2025.

Job description:

This is a tenure track, 9-month faculty position on the main campus (Memphis).

We seek to hire a rhetoric/media scholar specializing in digital rhetoric/media. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, transnational studies, feminism/womanism, disability studies, and race/sexuality. The successful candidates should be able to teach lower-division rhetoric/media studies courses and other courses in undergraduate and graduate curricula, develop courses in their area of expertise, and advise graduate (MA and PhD) and undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Communication Studies (or related discipline) in hand at the time of appointment
  • Demonstrated scholarly achievement appropriate to the level of the position
  • Demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching
  • Willingness to teach online asynchronous courses
  • Willingness to work with MA and PhD students
