Job Summary/Description

Seeking a tenure-track mass media assistant professor to teach a 4/4 load in undergraduate mass media program. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate mass media major and help students in mass media and journalism courses, advise students, serve on committees, conduct research or creative activity, and perform other duties.Typical Duties/Job Duties

Teach mass media courses in the department curriculum, such as writing for mass media, news reporting and writing, media literacy, media law, and others. Conduct department/university related service and scholarly or creative activity as well as advise undergraduate students.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience in university teaching/mentorship and a record of scholarly or creative activity. News reporting and writing experience.Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. (preferred), ABD (considered) in journalism, mass communication, mass media, or closely related field from an institutionally accredited college or university ( or equivalent); industry or teaching experience in relevant fields.Preferred Qualifications

The desire and ability to contribute to the curriculum development in the area of broadcast/multimedia journalism. The ability to teach undergraduate broadcast and multimedia journalism courses. Interest in supervising student newspaper.EEO Statement
