Academic Emergency Room Psychiatrist, Rank DOQ
University of Utah Health (HMHI) – Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine – Psychiatry

The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Adult Psychiatry Division in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine seek a dedicated and motivated full-time Emergency Room Psychiatrist to join its faculty. The University of Utah Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) is a Level 1 Trauma Center, serving as a major tertiary care center for Utah and the surrounding states, including Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, and Idaho. The department sees approximately 91,000 patients annually. The facility is equipped with central telemetry monitoring and a rapid X-ray and CT suite and is home to the AirMed aeromedical transport service. The emergency department features specialized areas like the “Gold Pod,” designed to handle psychiatric emergencies. The emergency department is staffed 24/7 with master-level social workers who provide crisis evaluations and work closely with psychiatrists, residents, and emergency room providers to help with disposition planning and care of patients in crisis.

We seek a qualified professional to help us meet the challenges of providing high-quality psychiatric services in a growing mental healthcare market. Local and regional communities rely on the Huntsman Mental Health Institute to improve overall mental health and quality of life. We do this by maintaining a commitment to outstanding patient care, the highest standard of training for medical students and residents, and the continued expansion of our pioneering research programs.

Successful candidates will play an important role in the Department of Psychiatry, providing clinical services for the University of Utah’s Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) and University of Utah Hospital.
