POSITION SUMMARY:

The USF Health is seeking a full-time BC/BE Oncologist/Hematologist with an interest in hematology, thrombosis and bleeding disorders. The USF hemophilia treatment center covers a large population – extending from Ocala to the North, Naples to the South and extends to the East Coast in Florida. This comprehensive hemophilia program has a coordinator, research nurse, social worker and a nurse practitioner. The center has an active clinical research program with gene therapy trials for hemophilia A and B and other clinical trials of the CDC. The program is an accredited 340-B program. The ideal candidate will have a track record of clinical expertise in disorders of hemostasis and coagulation and academic accomplishments to facilitate delivering exceptional clinical care, committed to research and education. There is a hematology/oncology fellowship training program affiliated to the position. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • CLINICAL: The candidate will practice in an outpatient clinic with some inpatient consults treating patients. Lead outreach efforts to improve outcomes in at risk patients. Additionally, assume a role of liaison for health care decisions between the patients and the health care providers in the community, including the primary care physicians, internists, dentists, and other providers.
  • TEACHING: Education and Training of medical students, residents, and fellows who rotate through the Hematology and Medical Oncology clinical service.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor – Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
